I just moved from a Steptronic 335 to a Sport Auto 550. The BMW sales people seem to have no idea what exactly the sport auto adds. Obviously, paddle shifters and rev matching. Some said it also tightens the steering and suspension (doubtful).

When the Sport button is activated a 'Sport' sign appears on the dash. It can be applied whether is normal Auto, D/S, or Manual. Is there any reason to have it on other than while in Manual mode?

Maybe I should have gone the manual route to forgot about such questions...

The SA is the fastest shifting auto that I've driven, it's faster than my SMG and I would say faster than the DCT.

I found the answer to my own question. This is without a doubt one of the best threads I've ever seen regardless of the focus on Sport Auto Tranny. The OP should get credit to this day for the depth of the review.
