hey folks, just had my e60 for a few months now. I live in Canada so my speedo only has one set of numbers on the face and has Kmh in the middle. Now I am planning to drive back down to the states next month and would like to know how fast I was going in MPH
. I assume there is something in the iDrive to change the reading. Please feel free to post your thoughts or how I can resolve this issue. Thanks in advance.

can you not access this through the idrive?
i thought you could change the values in the onboard computer part?
failing that get a cheap sat nav (tom tom type) that will display mph.
good luck.

even if you do change it in the idrive you still not going to change the actual printed numbers on the dash. I think if you just change the speedo face with say aftermarket m5 gauges that will do the trick no need to reprogram anything.
Not sure if anyone sells different gauge faces though.

Just look at this km / milage blend from my ex-'05 525iA (M54-engine) dash - live on freeway driving.
The speedometer is km (and on the cruise control) but the computer is in US miles
and the rpm gauge had the changing "red-limit"...

A post-it note with 20,30,40,50,55,60,65,70,75mph and their km/h equivalents. Job done!
Whenever I go into countries with speed limits, I always set the max limit in idrive too. It's a nice reminder that you're not in a civilized country like Germany and can't drive 155mph
