On this side of the pond in the land of litigation, you can get a lawyer to get you off of almost anything. I have received many tickets, had all eliminated or at least reduced.

The annoying thing is that on my way to the gym (i was on my way back when pulled over) i had been doing between 50 and 75 trying to find out what i could get the mpg to rise too.
If only i had continued to do this on the return trip
You now know how testosterone levels increase with exercise

I'd been driving for 20 years before I got my first ticket - yep, camera van in North Wales Wasn't even driving like a nutter - just accelerating at the exit of a small village! 41 in a 30

Sorry to hear about all this.

Some areas are offering "speed awareness courses" for first time offenses - some you may well be offered this for one of these - given that they are in different areas.
You essentially have the choice - take time off work & attend the course or get the fine and points - no brainer really.
If this is the canse you will only have max 3 points (if the camera clocked you).

Good luck!

I've been lucky so far - touch wood!

However 3 points and ?60 fine.....possibly doubled up if the van one comes through...
Not a good week for motoring...
Last time I got done for speeding (90mph on the M6 with camera) the fine came through the post the next day. I would expect the Welsh police to be as quick as there can't be that many car and caravan combos doing more than 50mph in Wales! Well they never do in front of me

At least he was straight up.
I hate when the cops ask:

"Do you know why I pulled you over?"
I think it's a potential lead towards driving without due care and attention... If you have no idea what you've done (come on we always do... ) then the offence could be a little more serious if the cop is in a bad mood!

I picked up a red-light jump the other morning and the cop did the same routine... My reply was, "I presume because you thought I went through the lights a little late"... So annoying as it really was borderline and I see 200 times worst offences daily at the same place... Including the scooter that went thru' red at least 3 seconds after it changed!!! It cost me a TS10 on my license and ?60 too - doesn't seem to have affected my insurance premium though

He also tried the funny, "Have you any points on your licence sir?" - "No" - "Well you have now!" - GIT.

Well its finally happened. And in style too.

Im 21....driving a 2.5litre 0-60 in 7.9 seconds road eating machine.. Its easier to do 120 in it than it is to do 30.

On my way to wales earlier this week i came round the corner of a dual carriageway just as the speed limit had changed from 70mph to 50mph and a cop van was sitting there camera poised. I was braking so im not 100% certain it caught me. Id say its a 50/50 chance on this one.

However tonight i made a rather dumber mistake. As i pulled onto a dual carriageway i passed a Blue Vauxhall Vectra. It had very nice xenon headlights as i looked back in my mirror. Approximately 2 miles up the road those xenons were off but even brighter blue ones were flashing wildly.

Had the cops had a camera that took an instant speed reading i do believe i may well face court but they had an average speed job. I got clocked at 86.4mph.

When i got out he asked me 'how fast do you think you were going' and knowing i was touching 100 in parts i said 'erm around 85??' so i should really have high fived him for being so close.

However 3 points and ?60 fine.....possibly doubled up if the van one comes through...

They usually have a Van on the bridge near the tolls after the toll bridge (I assume thats where you got caught) - its easy money for them as the speed changes from 70 to 50 pretty quickly and you dont get a change to react before you see the van.

A vaxhall with xeons lights, skoda or a volvo with xeons I always expect them to be unmarked police cars so now I always take care when I see them.

Remember if you get a ticket after two weeks you can ask for it be scrapped.

Good Luck

That Cruise control is a good safety mechanism, I even use it in the 30 limit near my home as the camera van is often waiting at the top of the hill. It is not easy keeping a car like this to 30 going up hill.

I take the M5 -> M50 -> some A Road -> M4

to get to south wales.

It was mothers day when i think i might have been caught. (and i was a bit late for the meal)...

On the link road between M50 and M4 theres 1/2mile section where it drops to 50 and i think this is where potentially it may have happened.

Normally you see 1 camera van on the way to wales going down those roads. (at the most).

On mothers day there were 3 speed camera vans.

Talk about taking advantage of sons and daughters late for the mothersday meal.
