Hey everyone,

So this past weekend I replaced my belt, tensioner pulley and idler pulley and it sounds/idles so nice!

Decided to take out a spark plug to take a look at it and I decided to replace them. Bought some Iridium plugs and they are coming Wednesday.

Any tips? Particularly should I lube the new plugs before putting them Into the block?

2007 525i -3.0L N52

 

Replace them while the engine block is cold and don't put any lubricant or anti-seize on them,

 

What should I torque em to?

 

Also anyone got a dyi of how you can remove the cabin filter housing etc?

 

For the cabin filter housing you first pop off the filter covers via a metal clip along one side that locks it down. Then there is a plastic piece in the metal which connects both halves of the housing together. I believe you lift a tab on the left side and slide it to the left. Then each half has 3 or 4 of these 13mm plastic nuts that you can turn approximately a 1/4 turn with a socket to release. Then they just pull off. once removed there is also a plastic housing that holds some wiring looms that go across the engine. They are held on to a metal sway bar with plastic rivets. You push the pin out of the center and pull the river out to remove those. 4 torx bolts hold the sway bar on top. I’m pretty sure you can find the procedure on YouTube.

I set them at 22 ft lbs

 

Torque spec is printed on the sparkplug box, but I always seat then turn 1/4 (90 deg) more. Always have, always will. Never had a problem with it.

Do you notice any difference in running with the iridium plugs?

 

Yea, the car starts better, idles better and runs better.
