I am about to confirm my options on an 07 530d se and am intending to replace run flats with normal tyres when they have worn out. Do I need to get the spare wheel option (?70), or can you just use an injected type foam repar kit as my friends VW? - which has no spare wheel

I use the BMW mobility kit--pump and goo--since I have removed my spare. But, I don't go on road trips with this setup. So, yes, what you want to done can be done with little fear. Most "flats" are at worst relatively slow-leak punctures that are plugged by the offending nail, screw, or whatever.

Like the runflats, goo kits are for limited distance driving.
If you are stuck 200 miles from home on a Sunday night in the UK you have zero chance of getting a replacement tyre.
The space saver will get you all the way home and will be safe to use whenever you want at the reduced speed.
Goo is a good back up in case you are ever unlucky enough to get 2 flats, but the spacesaver would be my option.

My Ride: 2005 525i Titanium Silver Metalic and 2003 325xi Jet Black with the Premium Package in both cars.
I've already had to use my spare space saver on 2 occassions, I think this is the way to go. It will give you peace of mind if you have to travel a long distance on it.
