A cheap way:

1. go to tyre shop that take trade-ins, find an old, cheap 16 or 17 inch E60 rim, with a 2nd hand tyre
2. go to scrap yard, find a E39 jack (I've checked, it fits exactly)

I paid in total for these less than 80UKP (In Singapore)

And you get a full size tyre

?181.44 inc VAT.

I thought about sourcing the rim and tyre separately and using a jack and brace I have lying around the

garage, then found out the Continental space saver tyre is temporarily (?) unavailable. So I bought the kit,

which I must say is nicely put together with a useable wheelbrace and chock, all contained in an expanded

polystyrene thingy to stop it all wobbling about.

Be aware that you need to remove the standard ( runflat ) trim to enable the spare to fit. I did this myself,

but it's a bit of a fiddle and if you get the dealer to do it you're probably looking at about 30mins+ labour.

( Do they charge by the 1/2 hour ............. ? )

Cheers,

Mike.

If you bought the car from them, make sure they give you 20% off.
