About 2 times per week after starting my car (2004 530i NO NAV) I get a message saying the SOS call system malfunctioned. This also seems to disable my bluetooth. I have to turn the car off and restart, sometimes several times for this error to go away. Last time I had it in the shop I mentioned it and they said it was fixed with a software upgrade they performed. I believe I am running 16.2.

Anyone else get this error?

Mike

I just got my car back from Rusnak BMW. I had that some exact problem twice. The first time I took it in they said it would be taken care with a software upgrade. It wasnt taken care with a software upgrade because I had the problem again. The second time they opened a PUMA case and my SA told me they replaced the telemetrics unit. So far so good.

[/quote,Search,you will get plenty of information on the subject, but here goes again. Had the same problem with the SOS Malfunction coming up on the display.Dealer put in 4 TCU Units at a cost of $2000 each billed to BMWNA before the problem was solved and everything has been ok since.
cheers

Looks like you're gonna need a TCU replacement; I just had one for a similar SOS problem. God help us all once we get out of warranty.

I had this happen to me as well. I waited around 30 minutes and "rebooted" my car. After that it has worked since.

Well, 06 525i (3 weeks old) has the same issues.

In the last 4 days I have had:

1. high battery drain every morning
2. SOS malfunction twice
3. Passenger restraint failure once

It goes in tomorrow.

Hope they can fix, this gets a bit rediculous.

That same sensor in the passenger seat that seems to fail on everyone's car is the culprit, they need to order a new one from Germany, I bring it back in a week. At least they didn't have to disassemble the cockpit and replace every part trying to diagnose it like on some people's cars.
