I was driving east on the 54 freeway today and a damm rock hit my hood scratching it and cracking my windshield! Mother f....R!

Time to break out the deductible and get this taking care of on Monday. Going to have my friends shop do it and take care of my front bumper also.

Do you think the whole windshield has to be replaced?

OEM vs aftermarket?

if it can be repaired then usually the insurance covers it for no deduct. cost (with my insurance co.). the cracking looks bad in your pic though. if you do repair find a shop that can match the tint windshield. luckily it's a low hit, and here's a recent link from another forum --- http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...light=safelite

If you have Heads Up display then you have to use OEM.

Keep the windshield out of direct sunlight and get a glass repair tech on it ASAP - once that crack starts to spider-web you are screwed. Most windshields cost less than a deductible, but a good glass repair tech can clean it up pretty good and keep it from spreading. There will still be a mark on the windshield though.

but I got some hood damage and I want it fixed, so I mightiest well just have them replace the whole window, repaint my hood, and throw in my front bumper in for painting while i'm at it =)

Damn that sucks bro!! I mean if your already paying for insurance might as well use it and have piece of mind knowing it will get fixed properly.

My first post! Looks like a great forum.

If you think there's a chance of repair, one thing we've done is to put some packaging tape over and around the damage -- it's meant to minimize micro-movement in the surrounding glass that can cause cracks from spreading.

Good luck with it!

Maybe I'll put some blue tape over the crack and hit it with a hammer to make sure they replace my window. >=)
