i was driving in stop in go traffic today and i had to make a quick errand and as i was getting in my car to drive off i sat in my car for 10 minutes with the engine running and i was typing a email on my iphone, and when i put my car in Drive i notice my car was super super super responsive and was begging for me to burn rubber in my new tires.

are these cars required to be warmed up for a significant amount of time

I don't think they are reuired to, but I concur - I definitely feel that my car responds waaaay better if I warm it up 5-6 mins. I usually take the time to adjust everything right where I like it, go over some thing or another with a microfiber cloth or just do what you did - type an email/text msg, BS on the phone.

i will say... IF ANYTHING, cars become more sluggish when they are hot due to the intake manifold warming the air going into the engine.
