My Ride: 2008 550I LOADED, all options except HUD and NV
I always warm my car up before going anywhere, even though I live in SoCal. I have noticed that when I first start it there is a clicking noise that is coming from the engine until it warms up. Is this something I need to get checked out? I have been a little worried after reading those posts about lifter issues. What do you guys think?

i live in SoCal too...i usually warm up the car for a minute or so or until 2-3 lines in the RPM's have moved to the right....luckily i've never heard that clicking sound. Only heard it once when i put 87 octane gas i heard a clicking noise, but when i filled it up w/premium again the clicking went away.

^^^ Thats the one. He placed a link to another forum, I think it was the e90 forum. Read that thread, get some info before you head out to the dealership.
The dealership will tell you that they have to do a bleeder test (which won't solve the problem, but be patient b/c they have to do it first)
If it doesn't solve the issue bring it back and they'll get it approved by BMWNA to get you a new cylinder head.
Good luck

What lines? I don't have any lines that tell me the temperature of the engine? I just let it sit for a couple of minutes.

I think he means the lines on the Tach, I always wait until the Tach reads normal idling RPM before moving the car anywhere. I guess it's time for a dealer visit (Great)

please note that on LCI models that the temp gauge on the tach meter is disengaged/does not work (before any LCI owners start reading this thread and starts thinking their e60 is not working correctly)
