What the f&*k is a safety check sticker?
And on the bumber? Does bumber mean a different thing than fender in the US?

it is a pic that i took last year. see the stickers on the bumper? we have to do a "safety check" once a year. a lot of gas stations have this kind of service. they only check your headlights, signal lights, brake lights, wipers, tires, horn and brakes. make sure everything is working properly. that's it. mine expired next year since the dealers provide 2 years for new cars but mine is not a year yet :'(.

Does every car in Hawaii have to have one? Horrible thing to have to stick on. I'm surprised that it hasn't been stuck over one of the PDC sensors.
Could it not be installed under the hood or in a door jam where the type pressures are indicated? It would stop someone from nicking it.
BTW, is that a valid number plate on the car or a dealer reg?

alohalc, you can remove the resudual glue with someting like "Goo Gone" or WD-40.
I can't believe Hawaii doesn't use the kind of stickers that most everyone else uses -- the kind that go on the inside of the windshield...

I remember having these on my car back in the 80s/90s when I lived in Hawaii. I remember the "in" thing back then was to screw-in a metal plate at the bottom of the bumper and attach the safety-check stickers there. I'm assuming that HPD has started to crack-down on that? I had a friend who was driving through Waikiki and got pulled over for that once upon a time. And from the cops' perspective, I guess these stickers make sense -- get a sense of whether the car is in full compliance or not from behind the car. But they sure do destroy the look of the car.
