Indeed. And the 'new' x25d is actually a detuned 3 litre... (Only single turbo)
Could it be remapped to the same level as a remapped 530d????

Yes and No.
There are several differances in the 525d engine compared to the 530d.
But of course, any diesel engine can be remapped.

Are we both talking of the new (March 2007) 525d? This is based on the block from the 530d but I'm not sure of the other differences... If it's only the tune then in theory a software update converts a 525d to a 530d!

Could the new 525d ("detuned" 3 litre single turbo) be remampped to become a REMAPPED 530d?
If not, the 525d is obviously something more subtle than a detuned 3 litre turbo diesel.

I was one step ahead of that.

But from BMW's point of view isn't great that you can charge c?2k just for a remap??? (conspiracy theories!)

When will we get diesel engines in the US? I hope that they get here with the refresh. I am going to be environmentally responsible when I lease my next Bimmer in July 07.
What I can see here is an ugly trunk finisher (add-on) with a key hole now.
Bumper is M-like with a flat lower finish and new reflectors. (if it's not a cover)
Mirrors are the same and tailights are not LEDs as well ...at least in the pic
I think the big difference is in the interior, with the re-designed door panels, lighting, shift lever, etc
A not Bangle approved face-lifting, won't be be so succesful on this car
Don't worry mates, we've got the real thing
