Hi I just noticed that there was some blue-greenish liquid on the floor of the garage. Not a lot just a few blobs. I was just wandering what it is?
It was a very faint smell of chlorine.

Thanks

When you looked at the front of the car looking at the grille then it would be a little to the left of the center. When I looked this morning there was no more leaks.

Did you recently fill your windshield wiper fluid? Antifreeze would have a sweet smell to it, that's why dogs like drinking it only to die later...

It could be just winshield washer pump sensor. Just changed mine recently and no more leak. Thanks for DIY sectionof this forum.

The substance was a oily. So I do not think it was washer fluid. Could it be hydraulic fluid?

Is the active steering fluid blue? The dealer topped it off all the way when I still had the steering knock. Could it be from an overflow valve or something?

bmw coolant is pale blue. the AS steering I think is a pale yellow, like the brake fluid (different liquid though.) you can't really go by where it drips on the floor because of all of the plastic underbody panels. the leak on your floor could well be on the opposite side of the car from the source by the time it works its way through those panels.

Description and location = coolant. You should have that inspected ASAP. For starters, when engine is COLD ... verify coolant level. If low, that is dead tip-off. Plastic Radiators and reserve tanks are problem areas for 7 series V-8s; they develop small, barely visible cracks. e60 cooling systems may have the same problems.

In my past BMWs [e32 / e38] radiators and reserve tanks were considered routine replacement items ... every 50K miles.

It's one of the many features BMW built in to their most expensive vehicles
