Alritey on Sunday ..... whilst traveling at speed I hit a deep pothole and my front passenger side tire blew up I pulled over and found out that a bit of my rim was scraped. So I jack the car up and put on the spare. I drive to a pep boys (outta desperation) and had a new tire put on the old rim. I put the tire back on and the part where u jack up the car (a rectangle?) falls out when Im done. SO...

1) The "rectangle" (plastic block by the front passenger jack up point) fell out.... so is it possible to just pop it back in?

2) Is it safe to drive with 1 new tire and 3 older tires (they're also different brands 3 contisport touring and the "definity"? from pepboys)?

Thanks! at least the Giants won?

I can't answer the first question since I haven't really looked at the jack that comes with the car. If I remember correctly, its a scissor type jack which I despise using.

As for the second question - its perfectly safe to drive with one newer tire against three older ones. However, I would recommend at least putting on new tires in pairs. By getting another new tire on the front you now have a matched pair. Your rear tires can be replaced at the same time when you are ready and you now have an extra tire available should you need one.

I grew up in Brooklyn - the potholes and bumps in NYC can be brutal. Sorry about your luck.

oh yeah: GO GIANTS!!!

if the rectangle has a hollow centre with ribbing around the outer walls that IS the jacking point - its where the 'nose' of the jack is inserted. It looks fairly soft material so could be damaged by a trolley jack or simuilar if used wrongly.

Should you lose one it's about $5 to replace IIRC.
