Exclamation

As above, i took the car to the stealers and was done in a few hours, even i thought that was quick!! to be honest ive not noticed any difference apart from the MPG had gone up!!! the computer is now showing 34.5 around town and 42 combined, go figure!!! it was 30 and 37!! anyway there was no problems and it cost ?107 of my finest English pounds

Oh ive just found out all the sat nav colours and layout are different, it looks good, and the car feels really smooth somehow! the last update on the car was from new so there is more than meets the eye, if anyone is thinking of doing it i would say go for it

Its a shame most dealers arent too happy to do software updates, the reason there are updates in the first place is to address issues that customers report like Poor MPG and operating characteristics. Mine was update to August 2006 when i installed my ipod, i also noticed difference though mainly with the menu response and some different options. I am getting 29.5MPG but i would love 34MPG round town, could be my heavy shoes though .

Your real MPG won't have changed. You've just drastically reduced the number of miles of historical data that the computer has to go on to calculate your average. Same happened to me when I updated. My average before the update (for all 29,000 miles my car had done) was 21.7mpg. After the update, with less than 100 miles of driving to look at, I was seeing only 17mpg. Three months later, guess what my average is now. Yep, around 21.7mpg. Yours will settle down again, but considering that you only just recently got the car, and your driving style and your mix of urban, traffic jams and motorway driving will be completely different to the previous owner's, you'll get to see what your true average is. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter what your town mileage or your motorway mileage is, it's what your real average is after dozens of fillups.. That's the mpg you're really getting.
