Sorry to ear what happened to your car.

I took my 530d to Baviera Lisboa (Expo) for the software update (13.3) and there was no problem.

From what I was told, my car was the first in Portugal to get the 13.3 software update and they warned me to the possibility of the car not starting after the software update so I assume this is a problem related to something else than the software version it self.

Although you had some problems, I advise everyone to do the software update. Besides the normal things that everyone reports to get solved, like the TMC and so on, one thing that I really apreciated that got better was that the lag on the throtle disapeared and the car got much more responsive.

My ?85.000 530d (the Americans are so lucky... ) is from 10/2003.

Do you have the motorola V600 running with the BMW bluetooth ?

 

BT didn't come from factory. Installed it after I got the car. Working all ok and with v13.3 besides seeing names you can see the number.

Si tu pudiera devolver seu 530 e trocar por um 535, isso seria sensational. Eu prefero pagar um poquinho mais por um 535. Espero que of seu dealer acha uma solucao para ti.

 

Got the car back today!

I hadn't time to check the idrive upgrade but some things are a little different.
The car is running fine, the module that was replaced was the engine management module i think it's called DDE.
The software came installed from Germany and according to the dealer is the last version available for the DDE, in the dealer they are two version away from that one.
I will check the differences and report for you guys.

P.S.: i'm learning again to drive my E60, the E39 i used this last 8 days was a fine car but by the time i entered my E60 everything was just different....

Ok, car is running fine.

I don't know the idrive version installed. (i was told that there is a delay from 1/2 versions from germany...maybe iceman knows the last version there)

i-drive it's faster than before, the letters are a little different.

I have RDS working in the manual storage mode, the cd is working as before no CD TEXT function, it shows all the radio names in the chart and that was on thing that i missed in the radio. I think the sound it's a little stronger now...

The bluetooth is working good, a new function, when i don't answer a call, a little phone icon will be displayed next to the clock in the screen and the phone voice activation system is now working. I have no strenght signal icon.

I can store phone numbers by voice and make calls by voice. Real cool except for the language being in spanish... but it works fine.

The memo hour function is there and when i choose the option not to show display in the screen, now really works, the screen will get totally blank (i was able to see the clock and AC settings before).

The AC settings showed in the lower left corner of the screen aren't there any more, instead of that the radio station is showed.
This radio station will be always there even if the radio isn't on.

The brake force lights function is on.

The engine answer it seems a little faster at low revs but i need to check better that one ( the DDE module has the last software available from factory maybe some kind of improve).

I will check for more new things later.

I've got the latest, what is 14.
My gas pedal response seems to be worse now, the idrive needs about double the time to start and shut down.
There is a known problem with the FTM in 14 that will be solved in 15, so 15 is "soon to come".

 

Iceman, if you could do it again would you? I'm going in for winter tires and oil on Tuesday - they planned to upgrade me from v.12.2 to what I assume will be 14 (primarily because CD 1 still starts at random places on the disc when I restart the car - eg. can't remember where it was). I could let this go a little longer and wait it out for 15 I suppose, curious what you'd do if you had to do it over again? I fear losing the feel of the steering and the gas pedal even more than the slowness of the boot-up.
