Took my 06 525 in yesterday to have the sunroof looked at, dealer asked if I wanted the most current software, off course I said yes. 5 hours later it was done, man was I mad. Dealer said it was my first upgrade so it tooka while, he also said there is no way of knowing how long it will take. Is this true? How could you not know?

Since the upgrade the stereo is acting up, it will play normally then the sound will go away (any channel) for about 5-10 sec then come back on. Does it intermittently. Anyone else have this problem after the upgrade? Whats the fix, another complete download?

Yes, he is right. You never know how long updates will take. Apparently being concerned about time, I am surprised that you did not ask how long the update would take at the outset. And, I would always be careful about doing updates. Check here to see what the issues may be with respect to given updates. And, be sure your come away knowing what version was installed. Sometimes you also might want to find out what version was overwritten--at least to satisfy idle curiosity.

Various updates are possible depending on who and where your dealer is. I think the radio intermittent problem may have started with 19.02.03, but I don't remember for sure. Is your BT OK? As I recall, the BT and radio intermittent problems appeared together. The fix is to wait for the next software update. Or, you might talk your dealer into reloading the update, but doing so probably will not solve the problem. Seldomly can one go backwards.

I did ask how long it would take, he said about 2 hrs...then the story changed. No big deal really.

The BT is working fine, just the stereo has issues. What do you recommend? Reload, can't hurt I guess? When will the fix come out, soon?

I see. Maybe you said that, and I spaced it out. I am glad BT is working.

First, I would find out what version was loaded. Then, check here, using a new thread, to find out about the known issues, if any, with the version loaded. If the radio-intermittent problem is not one of them, then I would be inclined to try for a reload. There is no quarantee that the dealer will agree to do so, but I think mine would if I was armed with info indicating that the radio-intermittent problem is not a characteristic of "my" new CIP version.

And, the next fix already may be out since your probably did not get CIP 20.x.x. I think 20.x.x may be just now getting to the US, but I am not completely sure.

Good luck. Post again whenever you want help or whatever.

Ask your dealer which version he loaded on to your car.
