If you click on the stat exhaust inspection, you will see you can change the date / year yourselfe...
I've set mine to the date when our E60 is going in for a "goverment required" test in 2008...

After having an aux input installed the software was updated. One change I have noted is in the service menu. The car now has to have a statutory exhaust inspection in 2011, is this some new regulation that has been introduced in the UK?

Not sure, the car was bought in July 2005 with the software update being 30 December 2005. As I said above this was not on my original service schedule screen and I have been unable to find out what this test is.
It is separate to the MOT which already has the date programmed in.

Great info!
In Finland to first Govenment inspection is after three years on purchase, then after two years
and after this every year.
I need to program the iDrive also!
