Hello all,
I was reading on the other board about a guy getting his car fixed do to a recall and the software downloading taking 10-12 hours. Being in the automotive engineering supplier industry and working on multiple systems, I have NEVER known ECU reflashing to take that long. I am talking 10 to 15 minutes tops. Now, if they do a car systems check (which they should for this car the way everthing is integrated), then I understand, and even with that, 10 to 12 hours is extreme. I know many people are getting changes under warranty, but for those planning to keep the car for some time, challenge your service managers and make sure that you fully understand the change, the steps in the process and make sure they make sense. If it seems outrageous, it probably is. If they are learning and it is taking extra time in the early stages, then that may be ok, plus it is under warranty. As long as it doesn't become the standard length of service.

Aaron, IIRC, when my service advisor and I discussed updating my software, I think I was told it would take 3 hours. At any rate, I have opted to accept ver 11.3 because there is nothing chronic that is important to me.
