I took my bimmer to the dealer and asked for the new software so I could select my halo's for driving lights, what I got was the passing beams as daytime running lights.
I had them turn them off and they didn't charge me because that was not what I ordered. He also said I was at the latest software, I need to check that.

He talked to the mech and he said my car doesn't have the capability it was from 2006 +

** I thought getting the latest software would enable me to turn off and on the halo's **.??

Did I ask for the wrong thing for the CIP update, should I have asked for the iDrive update instead.

I have a 530i 2005

I will say after the update my car has more wheelspin and is a little more punchy

I need help deciphering my CIP

Thanks in advance

I have read in previous posts that this is an option for 2004+ cars.

I even have read that the MP3 SIB will work for all cars 2004+ Seemingly mine doesn't per my SA...

I want to find out if my SA is blowing smoke or it just doesn't work.

Try getting a second opinion from another Dealership? Personally if i want my halos on during the day I just turn the switch to sidelights.

I also turn them on, but sometimes I forget to turn them off

Do you know of a good dealer to call?

My dealer is super nice, the other dealer in town is a little too snooty

How did you figure that out?

Do you know what I am missing out on only having v20?

Ok, here's the deal. There is no feature for you to turn on and off your AE's (halo) on iDrive.

What the guys are talking about the the other thread, is the ability to turn off your DRL (daytime running lights) in the iDrive. The DRL's are the low-beam centers in your main headlights. By default, they are on automatically during the day for saftey. With the newer upgraded iDrive software, there is a feature in the settings menu for you to turn off the DRL's. Once you un-check the DRL option, you simply switch your regular lights to the left 'A' position which is automatic. The AE's (halo) will turn on when your car is on, and turn off automatically when your car is off. You won't have to worry about leaving your lights on when you park your car.

The screen to turn of the DRL's look like this: (courtesy of BlaSTiWi)

Hope this helps!
