Which software do i have?
#1
Hello ppl..
I do not know which software version do i have in my car.. Where can i see it? How can i check it?
Thnx in advance..
I will have my first service in like 2 months, and then i would like to update my software to the newest version.. How much does the software update costs? Do i have to pay for it, or it is included in BMW maintance service?
Thnx..

No one???
First of all as far as I know your CIP can be checked by your dealer only...
if you lie to them you can get for free, like your Idrive boots up all the time, you have drain battery message etc. anything you say of problems they will do it.
If you get the aux-input in your car they have to do it,
hope this helps and search for sw updates on the Forum.

For instance: model, build date, delivered date, location (at least Europe, USA, Asia, Canada, SA (South Africa) or SA (South America), options, mods, etc. You could put these in signature to save you from typing each time, and put your location in profile.
Just a thought for future questions

The way to check your software version is to use the hidden iDrive diagnostics screens. You can activate this by 1) pressing and holding the iDrive controller for 10 seconds 2) clicking the controller 3 right 3 left 1 right 1 left 1 right; and 3) pressing the controller once.
Go to the Versionkontrolle menu item and scroll down to the last item. There you will see an entry that looks like this: I-05-09-510-050509. The first 7 digits of that series of numbers (in this case 05-09-510) can be compared to TIS bulletin SI B 61 14 03 which can be found here. Each CIP release corresponds to one of these target data strings. Note that some software releases do not contain changes for the E60, so the target data string will not change between CIP publications. But, in general, you can narrow your software down to at least the major version (e.g., CIP 19.XX).
(Note: this is for Non-Nav equipped vehicles. For Pro-Nav vehicles, the procedure is the same but the screens are slightly different. The screen is called ECU, the first menu item on the left side is Applikation. Look for the last item on the right hand screen which has the target data string following the string SID_HIDDEN_VERSION=.)

Other than the general response that only your dealer can tell U, when u ask for help it would help us if u gave us a little more info than ur name
