[b] Hi, i'm completely new to this forum, i ve got a 530d SE in the UK, and i was wondering about the sofware everyone is talking about; i think i read somewhere that a software upgrade is required for my CD player to play mp3s (its a business navigation system) - is this true? Where s the software available?

I am not the best one to advise about software and what is possible given what one has. But there are two basic issues with respect to software--sort of like having Apple Tiger version 10.2.4 (or whatever). Our software has designations that are analogous. I can't remember how the Tiger analog is styled--something like EV3-PR1-GHI (that's way off, but gives you the idea). But, then there is the version. Mine is CIP (can't remember what CIP stands for) 19.01.01. I am not sure, given your car and location, if you can ever have MP3. I think my "Tiger" analog prevents me from having MP3 in the US regardless of my version number. I am not sure if I can change my "Tiger" analog, but my version was recently updated. You should receive better info soon.

I did belive that I knew something about BMW's and E60's but...
We have these seeres as the Iceman from Germany and E60Speed from South Africa and Rudy from PA of the US of A, who do know mostly - everything- not forgetting our administrator Lomag!
We are looking foreward to update number 20 fixing the reast of the most advanced software problems.
(My pretty standard car is working like a clock.)
PS. When do GB dealers forget about the SE-appendix? In the real BMW world it doesn't exist
