My Ride: 2006 550i, Black/Black, every option except HUD
I realize there has been a ton of posts on this, but I thought I would provide my first-hand experience on going from 18" RF's to 20" non-RF's.
I was seriously concerned with the potential harsh-ride from going to a much lower profile tire. I now run Radenergie R-10 20's with Conti SP's. My first impression was that the size of this wheel definitely fits the vehicle, especially the rear end. I then took a short 10 minute drive along city streets to see if my concerns were valid. It was sort of freaky because the ride was actually smoother and less harsh than with the RF's. Later the same day, my wife and I went out to do some errands. Still smooth even with two passengers. Then yesterday we went out with some friends. Four adults, city and highway....still smooth. And the final short-term test was my commute this morning along potholed-ridden Los Angeles city streets. The wheel/tire setup proved to be noticeably better than the stock setup.
The verdict is that I simply love the new ride quality. I'll keep the RF's for long trips and potentially for winter driving.
