I had the soft close trunk in my last 7er, and electronic trunk closer on my E55, and it was nice to not have to slam the trunk closed--but I'm having a hard time thinking soft close doors is something I would want before I'm 80 years old!!!
Don't you think you'd miss the nice bank-vault-like sound of the doors closing?

I agree with stream--there is something so pleasing about a nice "bank vault" solid sound and feel to closing the doors of a European car!!
I don't know about the soft-close doors...

[/quote]You can still close your door the normal way with soft close doors right? So a nice thing to have if they don't charge you extra for it.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...
The way I understand soft-close doors (as in the e65) is that one has to at least close the doors to the first click. This first click is present in every car. It's the one that leaves your car door open a bit but you still can't push it fully open just by pushing on the door. Sensors in the door activate a solenoid/motor to completely bring the door to the closed position.
