Definitely a great difference. It's addictive and after 3 months, you'll say it's slow and lazy ANYWAY. However, I believe you can live with smaller engines, once you understand there's no end to it.

I had a 2004 525i it was 185 hp, the new 2007 530i has 255 hp
The question is? will there be a notice difference in performance? does 70 hp make a difference at all?

I did notice that the 525i had some passing problems on the autobahn, but once it was up it was moving. The only problem is if someone pulls out in front of you driving slower then you have to build up speed again. with the 525i it took a little time.

I had a 525 loaner not too long ago and felt it had decent pickup. That said, acceleration fell off rapidly and felt real weak (compared to the V8) when accelerating from higher speeds 70+ and 80+.

Drove the new 530 and its a much quicker car without the issues mentioned above. IMHO, would be my minimium pick for the 5er.

PS Think of it this way - What would it be like to lose 70 hp? It would suck!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, probably over .6 - .7 sec. to 60 MPH and in the 1/4 mile.

I think you will. I went from 525i 2004 184mph to be exact, to a 525i 2006..i think 215 to be exact..and even thought it is not much hp diff..i can feel it well.

It is like sleeping with a plastic doll vs a real girl..just kidding...
