So I own a 06' 530xi with about 94,000 miles on it...

In the last few months when driving the "transmission malfunction" light came on and I couldn't go past a certain speed. I would pull over and turn the car off and back on and everything will be fine until the next time. I took the car to the dealer and they couldn't find the problem. So I took it back and tried to bring it in when it happened. It happened a couple more times so I took it back and told them to keep it until they could figure it out!

So..they were working with "bmw" to find out my problem and determined I needed a new tranny. I have an extended warr on the car so it is covered but..I'm wondering should I be worried about getting a new tranny? I plan on keeping the car for a while so I was hoping this wasn't the beginning of everything starting to break down!

What are your thoughts? Any body had to get a new tranny? Tell me your story?

Thanks!
