Carbon black on black, nav, heads up, comfort access, cold weather, Logic 7, Ipod, Sirius, Sport package, sport auto

1) The radio stays on after I turn off the car until I lock the doors with the fob. Anyway to change this to where the radio shuts off when the car does? I like to leave the doors unlocked in the garage.

2) I hooked up my ipod to the aux audio and the USB, and the Ipod just showed a bick check mark on the screen and said ready to disconnect. If I just hook it up to the aux audio, it plays ok, but obviously I can't control it with the steering wheel buttons. i have a really old ipod, the one with the 4 round buttons above the wheel. Could the problem just be that my ipod is too old? Or has anyone else heard of this?

Thanks in advance.

The radio will shut off by itself in a few minutes if you walk away but a quicker way to turn it off is to press the engine start/stop button one more time (with your foot off of the brake pedal.)

It looks like your dealer didn't give you the free iPod interface cable that is included with the car. Don't let them try to sell you one -- it's included!

Thanks. They did give me the cable. The one that has the ipod connector on one end and the 1/8 inch bannana plug and a USB on the other end. I hooked it all up to my ipod, and the ipod just says "OK to Disconect" with a big check mark on the screen.

Well since I don't have an iPod, that's as far as I can help. I did hook an iPod up to my car (using the interface cable) and it worked right away.

What version iPod do you have?

Someone here is bound to chime in with some other ideas...

That could be your problem. I believe it is set to work with the newer ipods.

The iPod in both my 2004 E60 and my wife's 2007 X5 say OK to disconnect when connected and they both work just fine. That sounds normal, but both our iPod's are only a year or two old so newer versions. Assuming you have all three connections done correctly, you got me.

When you have the iPod plugged in do you not see it on your iDrive screen as an option?

It needs to be a 4th generation or newer. If you have the model with four buttons in a row above the click wheel (3rd gen) you are out of luck.

I'm in the same boat. I need to visit the apple store before I take delivery, or swap iPod with my wife when she's not looking.

BTW, instead of pushing the Start/Stop button twice, just HOLD it down when turning off your car. No need for foot on brake or anything like that.

If you just tap it, it leaves the electronics on for a bit. I was confused in the beginning about that as well.

As for the iPod issue, it may be just that your generation doesn't work with it. Try inserting a USB stick and see if that works - if you don't have a newer ipod to test with.

Good luck!
Mike

Thanks. The system does not recognize it when all hooked up. I need a new one anyway, now this just gives me a good excuse.
