So we both gave him a dose of real power and took of for the exit. Once on the local roads we eased up a little bit...just a little bit.lol

I guess it wouldn't register as a kill..at least for me. lol

Ya the SL 65 is pretty fast there is always this one down in Qualcom stadium smokin almost everyone in the friday night runs. my homey chubbs has a civic hatchback pushin 400 to the wheel. he smoked that benz. i had the video on my cell phone. it was tight.

I can't speak for Europe, but in the U.S. the performance of a car is often limited by its driver.

To corner and brake near a performance car's given limits requires some skill and some serious 'attachments'. But now that all wheel drive, stability control and launch control are becoming more commonplace, maximum acceleration in a straight line requires no more driving skill than that possessed by your common circus monkey.

I don't dispute the raw power of the forcefed mercedes engines or the high rpm frenzy of an M5/M6, but I do question the abilities of their 'stereotypical' oweners to expolit those attributes on anything but a straight stretch of open road.....

I agree. I've seen posts on both mbworld.org and m5board where each claims victory. Stock vs stock, of course. A little mod for the E55 and it's all over for the M5 though. E55s are much easier to mod than M5.

I completely agree! It's who's got more "juevos" if it's a road race around other cars and winding freeways, i.e. the Pasadena 110 Fwy. in California...the oldest, narrowest, "windingest" fwy (in Calif. I think), which is so fun to drive fast - knowing your limits. Many Porsches and even motorcycles have been beaten - only because they dared not squeeze in-and-out of cars like some of us, (or I), would! And I'll admit, I've been smoked by bigger juevos than mine!
