Wow imagine an e60 with the smg tranny of an M3 i wish man.

Well...the E60 has SMG but you're right, its not the M3 SMG.

Trust me, you don't want it. e60 SMG blows away M3 SMG as does Z4 SMG. Same hardware but improved software in e60. Now, what you want is the SMG from M5 and M6...that is killer...transmission designed completely around SMG as opposed to previous SMG's which have used normal manual transmissions.

titaniumgray u have an m3 smg and u dont like ... wow.How can u not luv chirping almost every gear

2005 E60 has SMG I - 6 gears - 2 levels
2005 E46 M3 has SMG II - 6 gears - 7 levels
2006 E60 M5 has SMG III - 7 gears - 9 levels

No I think E60 has SMG II but just at a more basic level. I didnt think the US even got SMG I at all.

You are correct. M3 SMG has been around for over 3 years..in that time BMW has refined it significantly and hence the better product in the e60.
