Fixed today, unbelievable!!!!!

The diagnose felt no pressure and it reporterd pump.

Which was the problem?

Simple: the sux dealer didn't connected well the pipes and we found a pipe disconnected: the oil came off so no pressure.

Fixed again the pipe, refilled the oil, reset with DIS and the car still working fine.

How much those pipes, if I have had to replace them? EUR 300, lol, THREE little black rubber pipes.

I paid EUR 150 here but my dealer will give me back these money.

I drove one day a golf 6, 1.6 petrol: when I drove again my car it seemed crazy :-DDD

About cold starting problem, will see in November if with the new actuator the problem will be absent or not.

In Eurore they sell just the hydrolic pumps? In the US they won't sell just the pump you have to replace the whole $3800 hydrolic assembly even thought it only takes about 5 minutes to unbolt the pump.

Really? Are you sure?

No way to have #23427571297 (pump repair kit) ?!

My pump was good, just replaced it because it costed EUR250 and I was making an EUR 2000 job.

Don't know if I should sell it or not. Maybe better keep it in the garage for a future emergency case.

Here the hydraulic group costs EUR 3600 and they apply just a 10% off on these parts, so if my gearbox is fine now I spent EUR 2000 instead of 4000 for the hydraulic part or 5000 for the whole gearbox.
The bad news is also the reservoir cap is a little ruined so likely I will have to replace also the reservoir, but just EUR60 this time.

AlexFW, is this the pump or the motor? The electric motor bolts to the pump which is only about 1inch thick by 2inches square.

That # is the pump.
They supply actuator, pump, tank, shift and selection sensor, clutch actuator with sensor, pipes. Everything except the structure, because the whole hydraulic part.

Imho you can solve the 99% of faults with actuator + pump replacement, but we'll see in November (or I need a big fridge now: some people suggested me a big harbour )

Here a PDF on SMG, good to know for an smg owner.

12? C and it is ok.. I need 5-7? C but I don't have time to go to mountains now.

I think it is ok now but I have to check better: I have to go to mountains or wait for 10-15 days more.

Finally solved.
I'm in the mountains, not so cold but 6? C and the gearbox is perfect: N, 1, R with engine OFF and N, 1, R, 2 with the engine ON.

Here a summery:
cold problems or gear exiting while driving ==> actuator
SMG stuck in N, 1 or 2 ==> pump

Hi AlexFW,
Here is how my transmission sounds. I have a 2004 530i smg.
Same thing, i can only get it in 1st and 2nd. When i get it 1st and pus the gas the car goes backwards. 2nd jumps back to N. Reverse....does nothing more than some weird noises.
Up to 30 sec you can hear from N to 1. After that is from N toR.

RIght now is stuck to N. I can move the shifter but nothing happens.
