Buy an 2004 545, 2.9%, they pay your first 2 monthes car payment..... I can't pass that up.

Anyone have an opinion on an SMG tranny?? I have never driven one in a 5, drove an M3 SMG, same?

There are a ton of SMG owners (and lovers) on this board. It's a matter of personal choice though. SMG is an incredible choice and is loads of fun to drive but only if you're the type of person who would consider a manual transmission.

Take a look at the following SMG FAQ thread and read all of the threads that it links to. If you still have questions after that, then ask away!

BTW, the SMG on the E60 is not the same as the M3 -- it's still worth it though, in my opinion...

If you play PGR4 on XBOX 360 you can drive an E60 M5 around Nurburing.

I love the SMG, but highly recommend you take an extended test drive with it to make sure it suits you.

I would absolutely get one again. Very cool. If you have more specific questions, we would be happy to answer them.

It depends on your driving style and where you do most of your driving. I test drove three 2008 M5's with SMG and really tried hard to like it but ended going with a 2008 550i with sport auto. I drive a lot in the city traffic and it isn't ideal for that. I think it is a good product but it just wasn't right for me.

You absolutely have to test drive it before you pull the trigger.

Sure, but you have to be able to project past the test drive. The biggest problem with SMG is that people make a decision about it after only a short test drive. They don't always take into consideration the longer learning curve (30 days or so) that an SMG has in order to be able to drive it smoothly.

In my opinion, SMG in city traffic is far superior to a manual transmission in city traffic...

They paid your first 2 payments, it is funny people buy this kind of gimmick.
