Hi Guys,
After spending 4 weeks to study BMW wiring diagram, test BMW electrical circuitry, and hours of road test, I finally get my SMG modification successfully done. We had Bay Area E60 meet today and most of members see it
I bought M5 steering wheel+paddle+paddle shifter on ebay for $600, and airbag for $800 at Stevens Creek BMW. I think I can get a better deal somewhere for the airbag which could be $700. It works like a charm.
Anyway, because I first bought M5 steering wheel on eBay and seller did not reply me for almost a month, I bought another one from other eBay which came to me at the same time as the first one I bought. So, I have an extra M5 steering wheel with multifunction buttons and ECU. No paddle or airbag. If anyone is interested, please let me know.
This saves me some money for other mod like DVD changer. I'll post my video system once I'm done.
I've upgraded my basic sound system, too, and it sounds fantastic
Regards

Studying BMW wiring diagram and testing are painful, but installation is just a snap. The good thing is I have a pretty good electrical/electronics/digital background
Let me know if you have any more question
Best Regards

Awsome, as all of us, I don't understand why BMW marketing does not see this market for paddles Would such a mod be possible for the steptronic?
Also a matter of 4 weeks of hard study work or is it the same wiring

It's 4 weeks to everything from scratch. Also, BMW electrical diagram is not accurate, and testing with DMM must be done or airbag light will light up
