Never had the car jerk on shutdown. Are you setting the brake?

On a relatied but different note, if you leave the car in gear with the parking brake on while the engine is running and get out of the car, it'll shift back to neutral after a short time...

I too have the problem while the Idriv is initializing that the car has trouble recognizing shift changes. Once in a while it gets stuck in 1 or R and will not switch to N, regardless of what the shifter is doing. Sometimes it gets stuck in N too. Is this a software glitch? I have 11.x

I don't think that has anything to do with software, PabloR. Mine does that on occasion. I just slap it around and a couple of times and it catches up. I ran 11.3 a long time and now I think I have 14.3. That particular quirk hasn't changed. I feel sure it's something we are doing unless others have experienced it, too.

I have had some issues when initializing also, the light at the SMG lever is in R or 1, but display says N.

Definately not the ebrake. Feeling can compare to a noob driving stick and engaging the clutch too quickly and stalls the engine It's only happened a few times though, so not really concerned.

Shifting from R/1 -> N prior to starting seems to be no problem if I'm on the brakes the whole time. Otherwise it's sloooow.

So you're saying the car jerks even though you've set the ebrake? (I figured that's what you meant by the car jerking but since I always set the brake before turning off the car and since it's never happened to me, I was thinking that if you set the brake first, you wouldn't have that problem.)

Same here. I find that sometime I need to turn the key back to the 0 position put it in N (sometimes need to put it in D then N).
Eventually I get it.

I leave the car in first, set the ebrake, the car rolls back a little, and then when I shut off the engine it would jerk forward. I keep my foot on the brake now shutting it off...seems to prevent any chances of it happening.

I think the best solution is to ignore the display. Slap the stick where it is supposed to be and go ahead. Worked on starting this morning. Don't wait for the display which can be slow to respond. Just slap the stick to N and crank away. Same thing on moving to R or 1st.

In my experience, unless the display shows the right gear, the car wont go... I was stuck at a stoplight for 30 secs the other day after switching to N. It would not go back into 1...
