Can you control it with the rpms? If the car will not launch until 4000, can you hold the accelerator at say 3500 until you are ready to launch, then just grab the last 500 rpms quickly and launch?

Brake torquing with a manual? Why would one do that? Burn out? Someone mentioned that brake torquing wouldn't be good with an SMG though. Do you think brake torquing is sort of OK with a Step? Up to what RPM? And, I asked if you have tried your G-meter using AA, and if your G-meter is a G-Tech.
I have a G-Timer (Passport brand). Haven't had the time or opportunity to try it with the G-timer.

Crap. Ok, I remember Gears5 saying he used his own method to launch. If I remember correctly, he put the car in neutral, slightly rest his foot on the brake (just enough to let the SMG shift to 1st), apply as much throttle as you want, shift the car to 1st gear and simultaneously let off the brake and then mash it. Will the car shift as aggresively in just sport mode as in AA if this method is used?
There has got to be a good way to launch this car at the precise moment you want to and use the AA, there just has to be!

I was just reading the M5 forum and see that they are bitching (rightfully so) at the US cars with the detuned LC. Guess revving to 4k then dumping the clutch is not good for the car. shocking. But as I understand, the current AA does a 4k clutch dump, so is it all that much different than the euro LC (excluding the customization of the rpms).

I guess you're right... aside from the customization of selecting the revs and when to actually to do the clutch dumping AA is "almost the same" as the Euro LC.

So will all the 06's come through with the AA then or will BMWUSA ditch it.
Dont worry they'll have it for your 550. If thats what you're concerned about.

the e46 m3 has similar AA if you dont want to use launch control...
If you just floor it with DSC off it waits for the revs to build up to 4000
and then starts accelerating
