My SMG has a gear indicator in the display. I can always tell what gear I am in. Wish it was in the HUD display, tho.

Maybe he was thinking on the HUD. Speaking about HUD, he is right. Only on M5 you will have gear indicator in HUD, but on every SMG E60 you have gear indicator between the gauges.

I thought that too but the "next to the gauges" statement kind of led me to believe he was asking about the instrument cluster, not the HUD.

As you know, SMG gear indicator in the HUD is one of the highest things on my wish list (but underneath Sirius with Nav!)

Huh only the speed? I didnt know the E60 has a digital read out of the speed on the dash...

AND YES it does display what gear you are in, in between the speedo & tach on the dash.

I agree with you. I never look at my dash so having that feature on the HUD would be fantastic. You wouldn't think that would be to hard to program in.

For me, it would have been more useful than having the Cruise info there. We use the gears every time we are out, but CC much less often. OTOH, everybody has CC and only a relative few have SMG. Should have been programmable.
