smell from air conditioner

My Ride: 2008 535i: June 6th start build, complete June 17th, at NY Port July 5th, at dealer July 10th, took delivery Friday July 13- Plantimum Bronze/Natural Brown Leather/Light Poplar, Sport Package, Sport Auto, Active Steering, Premium Package, CWP & PDC. Dinan Performance Software 384hp & 421 ft/lbs.

I use Lysol sprayed in both the outside lower windshield air intake and the recirculate air intake in the footwell (in recirculation mode). This takes care of it as well.

Recently I had a peculiar smell when starting up my Lexus. It reminded me of the smell of natural gas (not gasoline). After a week or so of that, just lasting a few seconds, it became longer lasting and more intense.

I took it to the dealer and $325 later they had removed the dead rat from my ventilation system. Fortunately, with shampooing the entire interior, they banished the smell.
....er a rat ?? how the hell did a rat get in there.................

My Ride: 2007 525i (not LCI) - Alpine white, M sport package, Comfort seats, Logic 7, Bluetooth, Xenon adaptive headlights, PDC, sunroof, A/C with extended features, etc.

thanks guys...that helps a lot

and i agree that BMW should do something about it....and this smell started coming just a month after i bought the car brand new.

however, my car was lying at the sea port (in a sealed container obviously) for about 6 months. dealer was having some trouble dealing with the government to get the container out.

Just wanted to comment on that smell concern....sounds like the smell of mold !!....there is a solution that cleans out the system...just had my done... 2004 530i..lmk...
