small holes in BMW oem wheel

My Ride: 2010 528xi 2004 325xit

Can anyone explain what are the small holes in between the bolt holes found in every BMW oem wheels? Are they just design or serve a special purpose for wheel alignment etc.? Thanks.

They are for wheel alignment.
