Small engine vibration at idle
Hi,
I bought a 2008 535xi a few weeks ago. Sometimes, when the car is stopped and with the tranmission in Drive position, I feel some intermittent shakings or vibrations in the steering wheel. Dealer says it is normal for this type of engine. Other than that, the engine is running smoothly. I had a Lexus IS350 before and there was no vibration at all.
Thanks for your advice!
Ben

My '08 528 seems kinda rough at idle(with transmission in park, though). But, I'm also comparing it to other cars that I've had before. I've only had the car 2 months, and I might have the dealership check it out when it gets its first oil change(for me), in 1k miles.
mine does vibrate too, i told them, they did change the muffler and some rubber to absurd the vibrate or some bs like that, well to be honest, it does reduce the vibration but still left of 40%

It sounds like your HPFP. I had the same issue, one month later it got worse and triggered the engine light and the engine malfunction light. GThe dealer replaced mine three weeks ago. New redesigned fuel pumps have been release so I got a new one. We'll see how this one works out.
My 08' 528i had the same problem, brought it in last week they changed the exhaust dampener and bracket it does help some, but still feel little vibration when the AC is ON. brought it back today
BMW has a SIB on vibrating issue. They are replacing rezonator with a one that works with a different frequency to reduce vibration. I think better informed forum members will know what I a mtalking about, and maybe will be able to find SIB. All I know it was developed in 2009.

It does not seem coming from the muffler. It is not continuous. It realy seems to be from the engine. Sometime there is no vibration, then later it is back.
