My Ride: 2006 530i premium and sport package. all stock for now... :/

i have an 06 530i with a sluggish computer that takes forever to load up and from time to time its laggy from screen to screen... any info this? is it time for an update or should they have done this since i have recently purchased this from the dealership about 3 weeks ago?

No reason to expect that the dealer would update the idrive software just because they were selling it. It can be a multi-hour process for them if they end-up having to do it a couple times which can happen frequently for the update to load correctly.


It is possible you can pay the dealer to update it to fix the slowness. On the other hand, since you just bought it, I polite request/complaint just might get some positive results. Just don't come off as intitiled to anything.

Also note that the CCC based idrive system is not the fastest in the world when it is fully updated and working properly. Post a pic of some of your idrive screens and the age of your software can probably be guessed. (at least if it's the older or newer version).

Yah, unfortunately, CCC is just slow as a slug (due to nav) and retards the whole system. I am actually pretty glad I have MASK, and just hooked up a nuvi.

mine has always been slow. some days are better than others though. i just live with it.

its doable i guess, just aggravating more so than the tranny lol, seems like everybody is complaining about this

That looks like the newer version. Take a pic of the main screen. Your probably going to find that it's just slow and you'll learn to live with it.
