On Friday night I was driving the Beast the 30 miles back from Hertfordshire to South London. This being London traffic, the journey took about 3 hours, with constant stop-start conditions. Towards the end of the journey, I noticed that there was a pronounced lull in acceleration from standstill, before the car would pick up as normal. After cranking down the windows for a listen, I noticed a fairly loud metallic-sounding CLICK, followed after a short pause by another CLACK, both coming from what sounded like the rear of the car.

Troubling...

I drove into London through Brixton in fairly light traffic this morning with the windows down to see if it was still doing it - nothing.

I had originally suspected the gearbox or diff, but now I'm wondering if it could have been sticking rear calipers, given they were probably rather hot (iffy smell from the back of the car on Friday, too).

Anybody else suffered something similar on their E60/61?
