Sliding Arm Rest

I remember reading in someone's signature that they have the sliding arm rest as an option... I thought it is standard.....is it?

It is for sure if you are in teh US but I think everybody gets it. Sad thing is I had no idea baout it nor do I use it until after a week with my car and I adjusted with my elbow on it and it slide forward.

It's an option in Holland.
It's also included in some other options,
f.e. I got it with the BMW Bluetooth Phone Prep. Option.
I don't think it's very usefull.

. but i don't like it that much <_<. i have to slide it back to the forward position every time after i released the handbrake (that thing slides back when you pull the handbrake) 
.

I almost never use it. I think it doesn't look good to when you leave the car.
The hanbrake thing is true and very nice engineering by the bmw people. Pulling the handbrake with the armrest forward will push the armrest slightly back to give room for the handbrakehandle.

It is less stable than a fixed arm rest IMO. I'd rather have it raised higher and the cavity underneath optionaly larger if no phone is ordered. Why should I have to suffer lack of space because some people have built -in cell phone.
I want to gut that space and make it useful. One can't even store a cd in that tiny hole.
