Okay so today I drove my Mother to the doctor. Instead of going in with her I decided to stay in the car. I left the key in the ignition while I sat there and read a book. I didn't have the radio on, the windows and sunroof were close....basically no auxillary accessories were running or on.
After about an hour I decided to get out and stretch my legs. When I opened the door, the LCD in the middle of the gauges came on and the "dummy" lights above them came on really really fast. I guess the more or less flashed because I never did see them illumiated. The display LCD, in the middle of the gauges, was displaying the mileage, etc and the top display was showing a car icon from the side.
Now ever since, the light on the automatic transmission selector stays on for about an hour where before it would go out in about 15-20 minutes. This I know means the car is in "sleep mode" when the light goes out. This is driving me nuts.
Anyone have a clue as to what happened? If it has happened to you? How to fix it or if I have to go to the dealer????
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks!

well.. I still haven?t got the E60, and when I went to the dealer, I haven?t noticed this, but does the car have a interior light swith with ON - AUTO - OFF ? if it does, what?s happening to you may be caused by having that switch on ON... I?m not sure, it?s just a guess, but you can try it..

iDrive does weird things ever since my 11.1 upgrade.. it sometimes but not always takes 10-15 seconds to come on when i start the car, other times it is there instantly as normal... yesterday morning first thing it did not come on right away but today, a little colder, it did so it is not likely related to warm./cold...
it often tells me now to press the brake pedal before turning the key (or something to that effect) even tho' i had done so and the car is actually running... and it takes 20 -30 seconds to go away..
gave another message at startup a couple of days ago, but can;t remember what it was - it also was incorrect but went away and hasn't been back
minor stuff, like most of the problems but it is all getting rather old

I was told my the technician at my dealer's that they would not upgrade 520s here with the latest software 11.1.
He was telling me that the directive from HQ is not to do so as it is buggy. He however agrees to upgrade my 530i the next time I put my car in. He cautioned that he cannot commit on a timeframe to finish the job (if unforeseen problem do crop up) although the actual uploading of the software is abt 2 odd hrs.
