hello,
I am interested in a ski bag option or the 545i. Does the ski bag option work well? How many pairs of skis will fit into it? Can this option be added to to a car that didn't come from the factory that way? Does it require the fold down rear seats option? What might it cost a diy'er?
Thanks,
Dean

They work, but you can really only fit 1 pr properly and 2 prs with the skis separated. They are relatively eay to refold and put back in place but you must be careful to do it right or the bag wont fit properly and the closing mechanism wont close. I can't help on the DYI aspect I'm sure it is a matter that can be easily answered by someone else here or at the dealership.
Good luck
Good luck
thanks for your input!
I guess if I want to carry 3-4 pairs of skis, ill have to get a roof rack.
thanks again,
Dean

That's the only smart way for such a load of skies, crooks and boots.
4 adult skiers and their equipment for a weekend need the whole trunk.
Consider a Touring (E61) or the E70 (X5).

4 pairs of skis SHOULD hopefully fit through the access panel on the e60 but I've only actually put 3 pairs through on my '05 so I can't speak FOR SURE that 4 will fit, but I'd guess that 4 pairs would fit with a little bit of effort (& elbow grease). Fitting three was tight, but 4 might just work.
