I am dying to have Sirius in the car. My E60 did not come with the Sirius Prep. I really want to use the IDrive and not the stupid Roady. Can this be done after the fact by a good dealer?

Thanks!

It depends on how your car is equipped.

Please list your location in your profile. It helps us better answer your questions and understand your comments better. Also please list your car and options in the signature space. It helps us to understand what you drive at present. Thanks.

Car detail would be helpful, but if he doesn't have Sat Prep, can it be done, regardless of whether he has NAV or not? I've never seen a good answer. Some say it can be done, might cost a lot, other say if no Sat Prep, can't be done, even if he doesn't have NAV.

As of now, since you have Navigation, you can't get Sirius -- with or without prep.

The latest story from BMW is that they are still working on a possible retrofit for 2004 model year cars with nav. I was told not to expect anything until Spring. Keep your fingers crossed...

I keep reading this and I dont understand it. MY05's dont have any problem having both. There has not been any changes in hardware between MY04 and 05's AFAIK. Only later software. Why doesnt Nav work with Sirius in 04's but they do in 05's???

There have been hardware changes between MY04 and MY05 cars (specifically in the wiring harness) which helped solve the compatibilty problem between Sirius and Nav for MY05.

There is speculation that even if you have sat prep on a MY04 car, it may be worthless...

How about MY04, no NAV and no Sat. Prep? Can Sirius be added?

Can the wiring harness be changed by the right dealer? Are there part numbers for this?

Thanks!

I'll bet you can use the fiber optic input from the CD changer run an antenna line a d retrfit the necessary power supply to get sirius to work in an '04. I believe there are only 3 connections, the fiber optic into the MOST computer a power source and the anntena line. If not Cd changer is installed you could probably use this line and just the input into the MOST TCU box. from the CD connection to Sirius
