Hello all,

I recently purchased a sirius tuner for my non sat-prep 2004 530i. I also bought all the fiber optic parts, etc to locate the tuner in the trunk. Instead of replacing the shark fin antenna I've decided to place an aftermarket antenna under the rear window shelf. Does anyone know where I can find a terk splitter (SIR-SP)? I'm not having much luck. Otherwise I will have to bite the bullet and purchase the bmw sirius shark fin antenna and pay the dealer to install it. (scared I will damage the roof removing it myself)

Thanks

You can use an XM one. It's just wire. You may have to remove the plastic colored FAKRA housing to eliminate the plastic key obstruction. Also connecting to one of the inputs will work. No need for the splitter.

I just wanted to point out that the radio will need coding in order to see the sat as a source. As far as the antenna goes you can use the xm splitter so long as the antenna itself is sirius.

I will buy a terk xm splitter. I was just about to price out the factory sirius antenna & cables and get a quote for the shark fin cover removal and re-install. I'm sure it would have been pricey. This will definately save alot of $$$ & hassle as well. The local dealer is going to charge an hour to retrofit the idrive. Not bad.

Thanks again
