I know I'm a little late in the game here, but I'm looking to have the sirius pkg installed. Now that it's been out a while, I was wondering about the sound quality, variety of staions and just your opinion on the Sirius pkg.

You can do a search for tons more on this but in a nutshell, I think you'll find that the sound quality isn't up to CD standards (more like FM) but many of us don't mind that because of the content Sirius provides...

You will get varied responses to this. Some have complained of sound quality and signal dropping but I for one have not had either of those issues. I think it is well worth it. The sound quality I get is as good as my local FM stations and of course the content is the real value. Such a variety of music and talk that I couldn't tell you the last time I listened to the regular radio in my car. Between the 6-disc CD changer (soon to be swapped for iPod interface) and Sirius, I have all I could want in terms of entertainment options.

That price isn't too bad -- you can compare it to what others paid by looking at the following thread:

Thanks Rudy! I can never say enough about the forum. Also notice that you have the MP3 retrofit, I gave up because I thought my car was "too old" but i see that yours was built before mine. What's the low-down?

As I recall, you are SOL on the MP3 issue. Rudy has Navigation and that is the difference. Cars fitted with navigation came with the Professional radio while non-Nav cars like mine came with the Business radio as I recall. You had to have the Professional radio to get the MP3 upgrade. I don't see Nav listed among your options.

Yes, I do think that I'm out of luck. Plus after all these years I still have no clue whether I have the professional or business radio. Kind os sad on my part.

Sirius is awesome! I had the external set up in my 02 x5. I just got my 04 E60 and paid to have the sirius installed, $895 by the way!!! Before I just listened to howard stern because it was a pain in the butt to change channels. Now, all I listen to is sirius radio. I miss my ipod hookup though...
