Default Sirius 2.5 Upgrade

2006 BMW 530xi (Produced 09/2005) I replaced my Gen 2 Sirius unit with a gen. 2.5 I bought off Ebay. I have not had any coding done yet. I don't get anything. Should I at least get the radio id? It would be nice to at least know the unit works before I spend money on coding.

Call Sirius customer service and let them know it's a new install and they will list the box as active, meaning you will receive one free channel. Your ESN is on the module itself. Without that step everything will be dead. I didn't think these needed coding. You just make sure your VO is correct as it should be since you're only replacing the module.

When I first plugged the radio in I didn't see anything. upon further inspection I found the radio id number. I called Sirius and with a $35 fee they zapped it alive! Thanks for the reply! Jeff.

Good deal. It may take some time for all the channels to be accessible which is normal.
