My 545i is silver gray, and I love it. Really shows off the lines of the car (I read somewhere that the color was developed specifically to accentuate the E60 style), and is very low maintenance. I usually get the car washed once a month (when it's not the rainy season), and use a California car duster on the body, and a mini duster on the wheels, once a week. It's really a beautiful, classy color. Here's a few pix--lots more in My Gallery:

I had a car that was similar to orient blue (Porsche's ocean blue metallic), and it was a maintenance nightmare. Looked great right after detailing...for about 5 minutes..and if you have small kids, it's a finger print magnet.

You should decide if you're willing to invest the time to keep orient blue looking good--if so, go for it...and save the lighter colors for when you're a bit older and don't want a second career...

The blue is a sweet color. I had a Jeep in a similar blue for the last two years. The darn thing was a total ding magnet. Every blemesh shows up like a beacon. We chose silver gray over black or blue for the beemer for just that reason.

I suppose it depends on what you last car was. I had TiSilver for last car and went with TiGrey for new 5. It's much darker and a nice change. If you opt for sport pak with shadow line trim, that works well with darker colours.

I voted for Silver Gray. It was my 1st choice, but since I purchased CPO (and wanted manual) I didn't have much choice. I've owned a number of black cars and keep promising myself that I won't buy another due to the maintenance. My FX35 is also black, so I spend a lot of time trying to keep them presentable.

It's funny I've always thought that silver on certain cars makes it lose it lines and I read on here that someone may have developed that color to show off the lines! In any event the E60 has great lines, which to my eyes get erased with the sliver color. It all just blends in. The corvette is another car which totally loses it's lines in silver as well. I will admidt that the silver is much easier to clean but here's another thing I've heard from several body shop guys. They all say that without a doubt Silver is the hardest color to "blend" in if you should happen to need a potion of the car repainted. Black is the best but after owing one black car I'll never do that again. It looks the best for the 30 or so seconds after you wash it! I went with the Blue because it is indeed an elegant color and one that definitely turns heads when polished with the right stuff...(Zaino!) Good luck!

Although my wife was the one who chose my color (Orient Blue), now that I have it I love it. From what I have seen it's actually pretty close in color to Carbon Black, which of course we can't get in the U.S.

I have Orient Blue and I must say I really love the color. In my opinion, the darker colors really shows off the lines more so than lighter colors. Also when kept clean, the Orient Blue simply looks amazing.
