the rear side LED's (upper side portion of the taillight housing) come on when the car is running during the day. I have the DRL's on as well - is that the reason?

It seems as if for LCI cars, they've included the rear lights as part of the DRL system. (In the past, DRLs were only forward facing white lights.) I played around with my car when I first got it and when the DRLs are active, the rear lights are all on -- the only difference, and it's a slight one, is that when the headlights are on, the rear lights are just a tiny bit brighter. As far as the front DRLs, the only difference between them and the parking lights is that the eyebrow lights don't illuminate with the DRLs...
