In the US (Houston), you have U-turns under the bridge. Going out of the U-turn, you have to look at 5 o'clock (about 135 degrees) for on coming traffic. Well, the rear sides (right rear) is obstructing view. I can't see a damn thing!

The problem is that if you look at the shades at an angle, your visbility is minimize to almost none. The shades are fine if you look at them directly. Now that I'm contemplating a tint, I'm not going to use the shades.

Does anyone have the visibility issue with the rear side shades?

I don't find them to be a problem with visibility. I liked them alot in the summer. I use the rear shade alot, even at night sometimes because it provides privacy. I like knowing people behind me can't see in.

On my wife's 545, she always keeps the shades up during the summer. Especially when parked outside in her uncovered work parking lot. The Shades, coupled with a front windshield shade keep it cooler than without. During the night, she will lower the rear shade down or while driving in poor visibility, i.e. rain, fog, etc. The sides are still up, though, without any issues.

I wasn't going to order the shades on my 550, but after hearing her tell me they help in the direct sun, parking, I decided I needed them.

Regards, Mike. Get it tinted!!!

I also don't have any problems. I have 30% tint along with side shades that I keep up the entire summer here in AZ. I use them at night as well, and while I have to make sure that I look a bit closer before changing lanes, I've gotten so used to them that it's second nature. I'll sacrifice a bit of visability for a cool car. With my black/black car, I've had no problems with keeping it cool even in 110+ heat.

I've had the shades on my last three 5ers and I always leave them up -- day and night.

They've never posed a problem for me with regard to visibility...

At first it took some getting used to, especially at night. My eyes are adjusted now. The sides more than the back sunshade. Too bad they're not all electric, only the back.

Also works great for me.IMO another good option to get. Just maybe you should get your eyes checked.

Ditto, they are great. I guess E60s with shades were not designed for Houston. Heck I was not designed for Houston.

The rear shades are fine with me. It's just the side rear, especially when you have to lean forward to look side back going out of a u-turn. It creates a greater angle (line of sight), which equals to lower visibility. I'm trying to get use to it, but night time seems to be worse. Someone was right, so bad the sides are not powered like the rear shades.
